WCACP – your best route to teacher certification!
The Web-Centric Alternative Certification Program is an accelerated route to become a certified teacher in Texas. This timeline is a brief overview of the process to receive your Texas teacher certification.

The major admission standards in Texas are that an applicant must possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and a GPA of at least 2.50. Your GPA must be at least 2.50 over the past 60 hours. If your GPA is below 2.50, you may need additional certification requirements. More info for low GPA applicants
In the last semester of their college coursework, a graduating senior may be eligible for contingency admission. If the applicant fails to earn a Bachelor’s degree, contingency status cannot be extended. Contingency admission allows applicants to begin the program while they are completing their Bachelor’s degree.
To qualify, you must be a graduating senior working towards finishing your undergraduate degree in December 2024. If so, you can apply and begin submitting admission paperwork for WCACP to review.
online application
General information is collected in the online application to properly evaluate each candidate. A candidate usually chooses one certification area (e.g., Math 7-12), but sometimes they are granted approval to pursue multiple ones.
Program acceptance
Once we receive your official transcript and admission paperwork, you can be reviewed for program acceptance. You will immediately have access to this information in the WCACP Portal once you submit your online application.
curriculum
The online curriculum and classes can be done in the comfort of your residence. Online modules can be completed at your own pace.
pass exams
Interactive study material and sample tests will be provided to help you pass your content and PPR exams.
teaching internship
You have the option to complete a paid one-year teaching internship or a non-paid 14-week clinical teaching assignment.
certified teacher
Once your teaching internship or CT assignment is complete, you will be eligible to be recommended for your standard teaching certificate.
