The REA book and its accompanying online study center provided me with useful tools for preparing for the exam. The diagnostic test was particularly helpful in identifying my areas of strength and weakness. After studying from the book, I was able to take two practice exams. These exams not only allowed me to assess my progress, but also explained the reasoning behind correct and incorrect answers. Overall, I highly recommend utilizing both the book and online program for success on the exam. In fact, with a score of 294, I passed on my first attempt after only spending 45 minutes on the test. While there were a few unexpected questions that required knowledge of grammar rules and ESL programs, most of my studying focused on vocabulary rather than specific teaching decisions. As many others have stated, the exam primarily consists of situational questions, especially at the secondary level. My best advice is to carefully read each question and answer option, keeping in mind our goal to respect culture, students' backgrounds, group work, and real-life communication in ESL classrooms. With this approach in mind, you will be well-prepared for success. Good luck!
