After taking two other Texes exams, I can confidently say that this was the most challenging one. It covered many unfamiliar concepts and terms, and no amount of additional study time could have prepared me for them. Understanding vocabulary and knowing the laws related to ESL/Bilingual programs are essential. It's also crucial to know proper pronunciation and how different tongue placements affect word articulation. While I don't know the technical name for this type of studying, there were several questions on the exam that required knowledge of symbols related to these concepts. Despite initially believing that I had failed, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a high passing score. My advice is to utilize all available free materials and not waste money on guides. Approach the exam with an idealistic mindset, selecting answers that sound best in a perfect world rather than what you may personally think is correct. Familiarize yourself with key terms such as morpheme, phoneme, morphology, phonology, CALPS, BICS, and understand the distinctions between ESL and Bilingual programs, as well as the responsibilities of schools, committees, and parents. Utilize the testing site guide and look up unknown words or definitions beforehand. Try to eliminate two options on multiple-choice questions before considering your knowledge of ESL
