My most valuable resource was the REA's TExES PPR EC-12 (160) Book, which I thoroughly read and completed practice questions for each competency section. In addition, I utilized the online PPR review from Texas Teachers and focused on specific quizzes for areas where I needed extra practice. To further prepare, I also completed ETS practice questions and a practice test. Afterwards, I made sure to review any missed questions for a thorough understanding.

Strategy for Testing

The test was fairly similar to the ETS practice test, although there were approximately 15-20 questions that proved slightly more challenging than I anticipated. It is crucial to review concepts such as ELL levels, Bloom's Taxonomy, and Erikson's stages of psycho-social development. Additionally, understanding horizontal and vertical alignment is important. My approach during the test was to tackle the questions I knew right away first, marking or skipping those requiring more thought or unfamiliar answers. This strategy prevented me from becoming fatigued. During the exam itself, I took brief mental breaks every 15-20 questions. Once completed, I revisited the marked/skipped questions and used my scratch paper to rule out answer choices until I found the best one. The entire test lasted three hours (including a 10-minute break) and resulted in a score of 294 for me.
